Instructions on installing files from this site

(from the point of view of Microsoft Windows® operating system)

Instructions on installing SPC Calendar

This program was developed for DOS platforms and could be used with Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows NT, or Windows 2000/Me/XP as well.

It is packed in ZIP archive by Niko Mack's WinZip. You can open it and/or extract it by using WinZip, WinRAR, WinARJ, WinAce, or other program designed for file compression that uses ZIP (LHA) compressiong algorithm.

Simply follow these instructions:

  1. DownloadSPCCAL.ZIP and save it to Your computer. Follow the instructions in the Download page and click on "Download" button that will appear. The download process will start automatically.
  2. Select destination folder for spcal.zip file, or destination name for the downloaded file. (Save As..)
  3. Unzip (decompress) the file using Your favourite unzip program(like WinZip or Unzipsee the list of recommended programs You could download)
  4. Run program (double/single click on program icon in Windows Explorer)
  5. Select desired program location on Your Hard Disk
  6. Click on OK.
  7. You have installed the program.

Instructions on installing icons

It's recommended first to check if You have installed Microsoft Plus! program on Your computer (if Your operating system in Windows NT 4, Windows 95 OSR2, or Windows 98, You already have it installed).

Windows versions from Windows XP do not need the program Plus! to have these icons working properly.

If You don't use these OS, then to check if You have MS Plus! You should at first minimize all the windows, and click the right button of Your mouse on empty desktop space. Pop-up menu will show. Click on Properties. Desktop properties dialog will show. If there is no Plus! tab You will have to install it first.

If You have MS Plus! installed onto Your computer, follow these instructions:

  1. Click with the left button on the link to the ZIP file You would like to install (from icons download pages)
  2. Select the link to the specified file and click on it.
  3. The download page will appear. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  4. Save the file to the temporary folder by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog like c:\temp for the folder and temp_ico_file.zip for desired file name. Then click the Save button.
  5. Unzip the file (ether using "WinZip" program for Windows or "Unzip" from console mode), and save the (unzipped file in your Windows/System folder on Your computer as nbicons.icl.
  6. Open Properties Dialog as described above, then select Plus! tag
  7. Select icon to change, then click on Change Icon.. button and select nbicons.icl file
  8. Click on OK.
  9. You have installed icon theme.
  10. after that you may delete the temporary file tempfile.zip since you don't need it anymore.

Instructions on installing fonts

  1. Click with the left button on the link to the ZIP file You would like to install (from fonts download pages)
  2. Select the link to the specified file and click on it.
  3. The download page will appear. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  4. Save the file to the temporary folder
  5. by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog like c:\temp for the folder and temp_font_file.zip for desired file name. Then click the Save button.
  6. The downloaded ZIP file should be saved by now by the name c:\temp\temp_font_file.zip
  7. Unzip the file (ether using "WinZip" program for Windows or "Unzip" from console mode) in the same folder as zipped file (i.e. c:\temp\<unzipped file> where <unzipped file> is the name of the file You have unzipped with the program) .
  8. Open Control Panel (click on My Computer>Control Panel) and open Fonts dialog.
  9. From Fonts main menu select File>Install New Font... Dialog box Add Fonts will appear.
  10. Select c:\temp\ via the dialog. Fonts in the folder should appear in a list of fonts.
  11. Select desired fonts to be installed and click on OK. Be sure that you've checked the box "Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder" !
  12. You have installed font(s).

Instructions on downloading and installing wallpapers

  1. Click with the left button on the link to the ZIP file You would like to install (from wallpapers download pages)
  2. Select the link to the specified file and click on it.
  3. The download page will appear. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  4. Save it in Your pictures folder by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog like ..My Documents\My Pictures and wallpaper.jpg for desired file name. Then click the Save button.
  5. Open Control Panel (click on My Computer>Control Panel) and open Display dialog.
  6. From Desktop tab select wallpaper>Browse...
  7. Select file dialog will appear. Select saved wallpaper file (My Documents\My Pictures\wallpaper.jpg). Click OK or Apply
  8. If everything if all right, the desired wallpaper should appear in the background of Your Windows.

Instructions on downloading and installing Screen savers

  1. Click with the left button on the link to the screen saver file You would like to install
  2. Select the link to the specified file and click on it.
  3. The download page will appear. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  4. Save it to the preferred temporary folder by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog like c:\temp and press the Save button.
    Now, You have saved the .zip file. The next step is to unzip the file since it is in a compressed (.zip) form..
  5. Unzip the file (ether using "WinZip" program for Windows or "Unzip" from console mode) in the C:\Windows\<unzipped file> where <unzipped file> is the name of the file You have unzipped with the program .
  6. Open Control Panel (click on My Computer>Control Panel) and open Display dialog.
  7. From Desktop tab select Screen Saver>Browse...
  8. Select file dialog will appear. Select saved wallpaper file (C:\Windows\<unzipped file>, where <unzipped file> is the .scr format file). Click OK or Apply
  9. If everything if all right, the desired screen saver will appear every time the PC is idle for the time You specified in the Screen Saver settings of Your Windows.

Instructions on downloading and installing Boot Skins

  1. Check out if You have already installed Boot Skin 1.0 program (or higher version). You can download the program from http://www.bootskin.com/External article.
  2. After installing the program, or confirming You already have installed it before, download the file following these steps :
  3. Select the link to the specified file and click on it.
  4. The download page will appear. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  5. Save it to the preferred folder by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog as C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins\Neobyzantine and press the Save button.
    Now, You have saved the .zip file. The next step is to unzip the file since it is in a compressed (.zip) form..
  6. Unzip the file (ether using "WinZip" program for Windows or "Unzip" from console mode) in the same folder.
  7. Start the Bootskin program. The Neobyzantine bootskin will appear in the skin list of the program.
  8. Select file and image with "Neobyzantine" caption. Click Apply button. The Neobyzantine bootskin is now installed.
  9. Restart the computer in order to have the new bootskin enabled.

Instructions on downloading and installing Mobile phone sounds and logos

  1. Check out if Your mobile phone has enabled GPRS or EDGE or UMTS, or i-Mode service (and running). Your mobile (cell) phone needs to have these technologies supported in order to use them. (Check it out in the device instructions manual). For the technologies available to use with Your mobile phone, chack with Your mobile telephony provider.
  2. With Your mobile phone internet browser, visit the location: http://www.neobyzantine.org/mobile/download
  3. Select logos, or sounds
  4. Select the link to the specified file and click on it. Depending on Your mobile phone model and manufacturer, the results after this step could vary..
  5. The file You have selected will appear/ will be opened. However, You still need to save it onto Your mobile phone's memory. Now select the "Download" button to download the file. The download will start.
  6. You will be notified of the file size in KB (kilobits). Remember that Your mobile phone provider will bill You for downloading the file, depending on the file size. We will not charge any money for downloading the file from our site.
  7. Save it to the preferred folder by selecting the desired folder in the Save As dialog and press the Save button.
    Now, You have saved the file.
  8. You can play the downloaded file, or set is as default wallpaper for Your mobile phone if You open the file, then select "Set As.." (or similar dialog), and finally, selecting "desktop wallpaper" / "logo" / ringing tone... (options may vary).
